Derrick Southerland

  • Originally from Dacula, GA.
  • Derrick taught himself how to play guitar and piano at 16.
  • He studied Consumer Economics and Music Business at The University of Georgia.
  • Dropped out a year from college to work at Signature Sound (a R&B/hip-hop studio in Atlanta) before going back to graduate, and while in college in Athens, GA, Derrick worked with producer John Keane (REM, B-52s, Widespread Panic).
  • Moved to Nashville in 2010, and was signed by Still Working Music in 2013
  • Has secured three cuts with John & Jacob including their lead single “Ride With Me” and a TV placement on the show Nashville with the song “Be My Girl”, and most recently secured a cut on The Swon Brother’s debut album The Swon Brothers entitled “Breaking.”
